What a tahdit code is, and why you may not know you have one

A refusal with no stated reason usually has one. It is just not on the letter.

A restriction recorded against a foreigner in Turkey

A tahdit is a restriction code recorded against a foreigner in the Turkish system. Codes exist for overstays, for entry bans, for public-order concerns and for several administrative situations that are not misconduct at all. A code can sit quietly behind a refusal without appearing in the refusal itself.

Why this catches people

An applicant with a clean sense of their own history gets refused, reads a letter that says little, and reapplies with the same file. The second refusal costs another fee and more weeks. Nothing in the loop reveals the code.

What to do first

Find out whether there is one before you reapply. Turkey runs a foreigners communication line, 157, which can tell an applicant why an application failed. A Turkish lawyer can establish the same thing and, where the code is wrong or spent, challenge it.

Where an agency stops

This is the clearest line between filing and advocacy. Preparing a complete file is one job. Arguing against a restriction on your record is another, and it belongs to a lawyer. Any service that offers to make a tahdit go away is selling something it cannot deliver.

The ordinary case

Most refusals are not codes at all. They are missing documents, insurance that ends too early, an address that cannot be registered, income evidence that falls short. Those are cheaper problems, and they are the ones to rule out first.
